We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came out on Sunday, July 26th to celebrate 9 years of Fueled by Kids. Your support made the day so special—and so successful!
Thanks to you, we continue to make a meaningful impact. The feedback we receive from social workers, teachers, and principals reminds us just how much this work matters. Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of the children we serve.
From all of us at Fueled by Kids—thank you!
Can you imagine not knowing where your next meal will come from? We hope you can join us for our 10th annual celebration of Fueled by Kids, an event that has a direct benefit for kids in Manchester who rely on our help each week.
Ten years ago, we began providing 65 food bags a week at one school but have grown to now serve over 1,165 kids at 22 Manchester public schools!
Our amazing growth has been the product of school guidance counselors and principals communicating with each other about the great results their kids have experienced and reaching out to us in order to help as many children as possible at as many schools as possible.
We have amazing volunteers who help us to pack and deliver the bags each week but the most difficult part of Fueled By Kids is finding the money to buy food for all of these kids. There are always more children right here in Manchester, NH that could benefit from our help and we don’t want to say no to any of them (and we haven’t yet)!
Each bag we deliver on Fridays now costs $6 due to rising prices, which means it costs $240 to feed a child for the school year and about $60 for the summer.
For this school year alone, we delivered 46,160 bags of food! This wouldn’t be possible without all of our amazing volunteers who take time out of their days to help us pack and deliver these bags.
This year, Fueled by Kids Club merged with the Key Club at the high school to provide plenty of volunteers to support our organization each week. In addition, National Charity League provides volunteers each week as well as other school and community organizations. We have 2 girl scout troops who come regularly and we had 2 groups from Merrimack high school this year also! One fun event this year was we brought supplies to Gossler Park Elementary School and the second grade students helped us pack bags as part of their “Leader in Me” program.
I have really enjoyed my time with Jill as my co-general manager this year. I wish her the best of luck as she heads to college in Canada next year. Hannah Laramie, one of our youth board members will be helping me out next year as co-general manager. We can’t wait to see you there!
Thank you,
–Brie & Jill
